STORYTELLING

A storyteller is a person who tells stories to others. For me it is an art, because the person has to do sounds and act. They have to change voices, to change the feeling of the story, like a happiness or afraid, to talk faster and louder to do the story more exciting, to use dialogue and to use different voices for different characters.
Sometimes, the storyteller use different techniques to tell the story; for example, they use puppets to do the story funnier.
It’s very important to preserve this culture to tell stories, because if you use this technique you can make the story funnier and all the audience pay more attention and they enjoy that.
There are many kinds of stories; for example, fairytale; this case is when in the story is a princess and prince, they have a love history with a happy ending, like sleep beauty, snow white and Cinderella. Also, there are stories about fears, for example about vampires, monsters and some others. There are stories for babies or children like puss in boots, the three little pigs.
In Costa Rica, there are some examples of stories or legends, like: “La llorona”, “el cadejos”, “la carreta sin bueyes”, “la tule vieja”,” el padre sin cabeza”, “la mona”, and some others.

Foot print

What would you next generations to help reduce their foot print?

The foot print is made when the people contaminate the environment. So, how do people contaminate? When they throw garbage, contaminate the river and the air, smoke and some others actions. These actions are affecting the world; and in a short term, this effect will be irreversible.
So, we can stop with this, but we need to act now.
We have to start to teach children how to care the world, but first we need to start to set an example.
Maybe, also it is necessary to do campains for impel the next generation to take into account that we have to care the world and not destroy it.
It's important to stop now, if not we have to asume the consequences in a long term. So, these actions affect us; for example, the natural disasters are provocate for our actions, and these disasters are killing people, destroying cities and some others damages.
Maybe, we have to start to go to the work by bus, it means less contamination, because if all people use the buses, there will be less cars in the street.

MARRIAGE!!!!

I think that one of the reason is why the marriage now is not obligatory, before the marriage was like an obligation because if the women or man is not married was a less of prestige for the family; I think that was an irrational actitude.
Today, the society it is different, because many things are in constantly change, now the people can decide if they are prepare to get married or not and if they want to assume this responsability.
Also the people think that if they get married, they can't enjoy the life of the same form if they were single, because the marriage implies many responsabilities; for example, they have to support a family, be with one person for the rest of their life and then if they want to have children it's difficult to raise a child and some others things.
I think that it's desicion of each person and now the people can't assume this responsability.
The divorces occur because the people don't think well with who to get married and then in the relationship they have many problems. It is important to know the person and be sure who to get married.

Simple life!!!!

Some people prefer living a simple lifestyle than living in better conditions. I think that it is depends of the preferences of each person, because simple life implies work and effort; for example, the people who live a simple life cook with wood stove and this implies chop the wood and carry at home, while if you cooking with gas or electric furnace is easier than wood stove.
These people also have to plant and then have to harvest the vegetables or fruits or anything that they want to eat, for me this is complicated, I prefer not live a simple life.
The people choose to live simple life because sometimes they want to change their life or costumes, or simply they are tired to live in the city. Urban life is becoming more difficult, because if you want to survive you have to have a lot of money, because you have to pay water and electricity services, buy the food and some others things and that implies costs.
Also the people change to simple life for health, because in the city there is much pollution and this is bad for the health, and in the country there is less contamination and you can live near the nature.
In addition, a “better life” implies technology and often this implies contamination, we have to take into account that we have to be careful with the environment and sometimes it is better live a simple life.

Tourism!!

Tourism


Tourism is the way to overcoming the different countries around the world. It is an important activity to get economy profit and improve our country. In our country it is one of the main activity improve the economy, and it is the way from the country to obtain money and that is one of the causes that Costa Rica is in road of development.

Tourism gives some advantages at the people; for example, in a hotel the people can work and have more opportunity to live better conditions.

In our country there are many beautiful destinations to visit; for example, Guanacaste, Puntarenas and Limon are the more important places for tourism in the country. There we can visit beaches; for example, Tamarindo in Guanacaste; Manzanillo en Limon; also we can visit National Parks, as Manuel Antonio National Park in Quepos, if you prefer to visit museums, and go shopping, the perfect place is San Jose, the capital of our country.

In Costa Rica, there many biodiversity of flora and fauna, for that the foreigners take into account to visit C.R, because there interesting places to enjoy.

I think that C.R is a beautiful country to visit; however, I would always like to visit Brazil, for me it is a great country and if I visit different countries I can learn a little about other cultures, for me this is interesting.

Language

Language

Language is very important; because it’s the way to communicate with other people. Around the world, there are many kinds of language; for example, English, Spanish, Catalan, Portuguese and some others, it depends on the country and your culture.

However, exist a dialect, this is a form of language with grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary that difference from other forms of language; for example, it’s not the same meaning of one word in Colombia than in Costa Rica, this is part of a dialect of each country. For that is the phrase “separated by the same language”

Another important aspect is the accent; this is part of the culture of the person, because the accent shows the native country; for example the people of U.S.A have a different accent than the people of Italy.

We have to preserve the language because its part of our culture and our identity, the language distinguishes us from other people.

Extreme Sports

Extreme Sports

Extreme sports are dangerous activities that are practiced in extreme conditions. The people practiced these sports should take into account the physical condition, because it’s important to have strength to practice any sport. For example, to skate boarding is necessary to have strength in the legs, but to climbing, it is necessary to have the strength in the hands and legs. But, also it’s very important the emotional strength, because sometimes it’s difficult to finish the challenge, then its here when the athlete needed the motivation like an “I have to finish this, because I can to do” and I think that it’s more easy if you have motivation or if you want to achieve this.
Obviously, each sport has a technique to practice successful. And this technique only can be achieved if the person trains so hard.

There are many kinds of extreme sports; for example, surfing, kite surfing, “rapids”, rafting, kayaking and more; sky diving, parachuting, motocross, supercross, drifting and motorcycle rally; bungee jumping, parachuting; ice and rock climbing and also are the boards sports like a snowboarding, windsurfing, skateboarding and more.

For me, it’s very dangerous to practice some of these sports; in my case, I never will to practice this, because I am scare about that.

Fraud!!!

Anybody can be victim of fraud; we have to be careful with our personal identification, because the thieves can steal our name, address, and things like this and with this information they can open credit cards and make accounts in the name of a victim, and then the victims have to pay for something they didn’t buy; in this case, the fraud is called identify theft.
There are so many ways to steal personal information; for example, we have to take into account: never give personal information to strange people, when somebody call you because allegedly you won a prize and then ask for personal information. It is better ignore these kinds of calls or when you receive an e-mail that ask you to deposit money in a bank account, you have to be sure who is the person, if you aren’t sure you don’t deposit anything, these are some examples of fraud.
Now, is easy to steal personal information with the internet, only you have to write the name of the person and the computer give us some information, for that we have to be careful. And the people not only can be victims of economic fraud, but also the thieves use personal information to false married.
Now, the people feel paranoid, because are exposed to fraud; they are afraid because in any moment can be victims of a fraud.

Advertising!!

Advertising is a way to call the attention of the people. Different companies attract the consumers to buy their products. To create an ad is necessary to have a lot of imagination and technique, because if one ad it’s bored, these people don’t will buy the product.
There are many ways to show an ad, for example in the TV commercials, in a magazine, in a piece of paper, in a pamphlet and some others. The ad it depends of the product, for example if the article is for teenagers, the ad should to be very funny because these call the attention of the young people.
Sometimes many people buy a product, only because the ad caught your attention, buy not because is necessary, I think the people should to be careful with this things.
Also, some advertisements have subliminal messages. Different companies use these messages to attract people; the subliminal messages are appeals that call the people attention. These kinds of messages are related with sex and they are unconscious. We need to be careful with these messages.

About me!!!!

My name is Teresita Montero. I come from Guapiles, but now I live in San Jose. My family is very important for me. Every weekend, I go to Guapiles. I enjoy to share with my parents and my four siblings. My favorite foods are rice and beans and lasagna. Also, I like to eat ice cream. My favorites colors are purple and light blue. I study dentistry in ULACIT, this is my third quarter here and I am very excited about that. My dream is to be an excellent dentist in the future; I want to help another people. My favorite hobbies are play soccer and hang out with my friends. In my free time, I like to listen to music and watch TV; obviously I have to study a lot. I love to travel and visit many places.
